announce the launch of The World Biogas Association India Congress 2023 - an ambitious international
forum scheduled during 12th – 13th October 2023 at Hotel Hyatt Regency, New Delhi, that would bring together over 400
global energy industry stakeholders to explore the myriad ways in which India can harness the power of bioenergy in
achieving its sustainable development goals.
Under the overarching theme of “BIOENERGY, the Key to a Sustainable, Resilient India – INDIA, the Beacon of Emerging
Economies”.
Under the bold & visionary leadership of Honorable Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi, India is on path to become the
world’s third largest economy by 2030 while also remaining steadfast in its Net Zero commitments and playing a decisive
leadership role in the global fight against climate change. As the host of G20, India’s leadership in the energy
transition is critical. Prime Minister Modi has thus called on the world to mobilize behind India’s transition, inviting
investors, and businesses to join India’s renewable energy journey.
Biogas identified as one of the ‘fastest and most cost-effective technologies’ to keep the world on track to deliver the
Paris Agreement could facilitate India’s ambitious clean energy transition. The potential to be the world leader in
biogas production also presents a huge opportunity for India to create millions of jobs, support farmers by providing an
alternative to the burning of crop residues and reducing its reliance on artificial fertilizers and fossil fuels!
As a founding member of the Global Biofuels Alliance, the World Biogas Association (WBA), the global trade association
for the biogas, landfill gas and anaerobic digestion (AD) sectors, headquartered in London, UK, is committed to working
with India on harnessing the power of biogas and becoming an energy-independent circular economy. |
